Hello Everyone, I’m Katherine Serrano Sosa the Owner of Rooted Architecture Studio PLLC and I would like to welcome you to my blog and new website!
I’m beyond happy to be able to go live with my company. It’s a pivotal moment in my career and I am very proud of it all.
Since this is my first post I want to provide a bit more informal description of myself, than what is found on my About page.
Architecture has been my passion since I was 11 years old. I have family in the construction side and going to their job sites as a child intrigued me; such as how everything came together and was designed. When I realized it was an Architect who designed a home or building and it was them who directed the workers on how to build it via drawings, I knew I wanted to do that for a living.
Through the years, the reasons why I went to study Architecture, stayed in Architecture school, practice Architecture and became licensed has changed. The more I learn and the more I grow as a person changes the meaning of why I want to be an Architect. The one thing that stands through it all is that I know that this is my purpose. I may not be perfect but I do put my heart and soul into everything I do.
Venturing off to start my own company was not a goal of mine when I graduated college, but looking back within I realized that I needed to further grow and expand in order to do what I truly wanted. I love designing, solving problems and coordinating projects, but I, also, want people to we aware of what an Architect does and what it takes to become one. As well as, be able to provide services to those who never grasp what it takes to remodel a home or office and other construction projects.
Through my blog and services, I want to make it more visible to the everyday person what it takes to do a construction project, what zoning code or building codes are, and various other topics I will be covering here on out on this blog. As well as, providing that educational service through my design projects. Last but not least, one of the main reasons why I started this company is to make Architecture projects more accessible to Latinos/Hispanics to especially those who primarily speak Spanish. I would like to be able to help them in the right direction and have them feel comfortable speaking what they want out of the design and construction project.
So once again welcome, whether you stumbled upon this or you know me and decided to take a look. I hope you subscribe to my newsletter to stay informed of future posts and/or become one of my clients. I will be starting the newsletter some time in early fall.
Before I leave you, I would like to make a shout out to family and friends who have supported me through this progress and cheer me on. Special thank you to my brother, sister and mother who have been there for me through it all; even when I questioned everything about my career. Also, special shout out to Florim Kukaj, from Den25 and who is my friend/colleague/mentor. He helped me develop my logo. As well as, Celia Werner, from Celia Werner Productions and who is my friend. She took all my professional photos for the website and other social media platforms. Both companies have great companies, so if you are in need of similar services do contact either of them.
Keep growing,
Katherine Serrano Sosa
