Architects: Who we are and What we do
February 2, 2022What is Architecture and what does the Architecture profession do for our society?
April 1, 2022
Everyone loves going on vacation, and I think Architects love it even more. We not only go for the relaxation/ experience but, also, to see buildings and maybe even find new inspiration for our own designs.
I recently took a vacation to South Lake Tahoe, to celebrate my birthday, ski at Heavenly Ski Resort, enjoy time with family/friends, and be inspired by the nature and west coast designs. It was a memorable trip, and I highly recommend going to South Lake Tahoe.
To be honest, this trip was less about looking at the Architecture, but more about nature. But I did take a moment to capture some buildings, and art pieces that caught my eye. Below is a series of photos reflecting the character of South Lake Tahoe and a couple of cool images from San Francisco Int. Airport. My favorite part of the Architecture I saw was the usage of timber. It’s something not usually seen in NYC or Long Island due to price and weather conditions. Next time, you go on vacation take a look at the type of buildings and how it differs from your Town. It will likely be due to the climate it’s located in.
To me nature is the original Architect. As mentioned in one of my previous posts on Biophilic Design, I love integrating nature into my designs. Furthermore, being in nature to me is a form of self-care and a way for me to recharge. Being around trees and water is one of my favorite hobbies. Below are a series of selected images from my trip that caught my eye, or even took my breath away. Side note, Evergreens are some of my favorite trees and it was amazing being able to wake up and looking at them for a few days. There is so much beauty in nature and one can learn from it. As well as, just stops and absorb it all.
Hope this posts inspires you be aware of the buildings while on vacation and to go out in nature. Not sure when my next vacation will be but I will sure try to post again and share my Archi-travels.
Keep Growing,
Katherine Serrano Sosa
